The Four Cs;      Color ,  Clarity , Cut,  Carat Weight.                Diamond professionals use these to determine  the diamonds value.                        " COLOR ",                     GIA's  D-Z scale    in color grading loose diamonds, " D colorless through Z"  with a light color tint of perhaps light yellow, brown, gray, or other color tint, color beyond this point is to be considered a fancy color. Color grading involves making very very slight distinction within this narrow range, but these distinctions can affect price dramatically. less color  is better , colorless is the most valuable.  "D" thru "H"  are the top level  value color .                                                   COLOR   GRADES

"CLARITY"    refers to the presence internal features of a stone, called inclusions, external characteristics , called blemishes. All diamonds have different inclusions internally and externally . The amout of or lack of inclusions shows the difference and value of the stone. The use of a 10x power loop a magnification device ,the grader looks through every facet of the stone , to find and classifies each clarity characteristics to assign the clairity grade.        {"FL"},        no blemishes ,         {" IF"},       no inclusions and only insignificant blemishes ,    VVS1,     they are extremely difficult to see, visible only from a pavillion,or small and shallow enough to be removed easily by repolishing.        {"VVS2"},        Inclusions are still difficult to see.        {"VS1"},to {"VS1"},         Minor inclusions ranging from difficult to see.      {"SI1"}, {"SI2"}, and {"SI3"} ,   Noticeable inclusions that are easy {"SI1"} or vary easy {"SI2"} to see at 10x.      {"SI3"}inclusions are marginally visible under 10x.     {"SI3"} is an industry grade not recognized by all laboratories.        {"I1"}{"I2"}and {"I3"}    Obvious inclusions that are often easy to see,  eye -visible face up. "Carat Weight ".   The unit of weight used for diamonds is the metric carat, is 0.2  therfore taking 142 Carats to equal  1 Ounce, loose diamonds can be weighed on a scale. Mounted stones can be measured by estimates by useing calculations and formulas .    Point: a hundeth of a carat  {0.01}
